Five new mixed-media works on denim are inspired by and respond to the physical processes of making dance, collaborating across disciplines, and our current political and cultural predicament. They use a diverse range of materials (charcoal, pastel, VHS/cassette tape, paper, paint) and found imagery (newspapers, brochures, rehearsal photography). Material, compositional, and color choices were informed by the intensive two-year development process that went into the making of New York Live Arts’ Live Feed Residency Artist Joanna Kotze's evening-length work What will we be like when we get there, a collaboration with Allen, Kotze, dancer/choreographer Netta Yerushalmy, and composer/musician Ryan Seaton. This inter-disciplinary project premieres at Live Arts March 28–31, 7:30pm.

The works in this exhibition were produced during residencies at Blue Mountain Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and BRICworkspace.
